Highest grossing Nigerian films (2017); You wouldn't believe this movie tops the list.



1). THE WEDDING PARTY 2:  (#312,000,000)



 Amassing a  whooping  20 million naira on its first day in the cinema. The sequel is set at smashing the record of its prequel set at #453,050,000. Not bad for a Nigerian movie you  know.
The film tells a story of two love birds Deardre(Daniella Brown) and Nonso (enyinna nwigwe). Nonso proposes by accident, while on a dinner date and that sets off a chain of intriguing events.

2). ALAKADA RELOADED:  (#70,000,000)

This movie saw Toyin Abraham win best actress at the 2017 ELOY AWARDS. It was a movie you'd watch with great delight.

When a village girl is cast to star in a popular reality series, she must fake it until she makes it in. it’s a story of a pathological liar and rich kid wannabe for those who don’t know.
Alakada reloaded is the third production in the alakada series, the first one being released in 2009, while the second in 2013. Presently alakada reloaded is the ninth highest grossing Nigerian fim by domestic gross.



PLOT;
The story follows animashaun (toyin abraham), a young girl who is from a poor family background and as a result of her inferiority complex engages in the act of making up stories and lying about her financial and social status in order to fit in with the crowd.

3). ISOKEN:  (#55,000,000)


Isoken is a 2017 romantic comedy written and directed by Jadesola osiberu (in her directorial debut). The film stars Dakore  Akande,  Joseph Benjamin and Marc Rhys, funke akindele, Lydia forson, damilola adegbite.

PLOT SUMMARY;
Everyone in the Osayande family worries about isoken. Although she has what appears to be a perfect beautiful-life, Isoken is still unmarried at 34. From a  culture obsessed with marriage, this is a serious cause for concern. Things come to a heat at her younger sister’s wedding when her over bearing mother thrusts her into an orchestrated match making combo with the ultimate edo man osaze. Osaze is handsome, successful and from a good family, making him the perfect Nigerian husband material. But with an unexpected turn of events, isoken meets kelvin who she finds herself falling in love with. The only problem is, not only is he not an edo man, he is an oyinbo o, a Caucasian. Isoken is a romantic comedy that explores cultural expectations, racial stereotypes and the bonds that unite families in touching a drama-tie.

4). OMUGWO; ( #45,000,000)


Tagged a low budget movie by kunle afolayan, the movie has gone ahead to become one of the highest grossing films of 2017.
 Omugwo tells a story of Omotunde, a young civil engineer and her hubby Raymond an OAP (online radio personality), who just had their first child and their mothers move in for the igbo culture child care rite called “omugwo”.
Coloured by their different cultural backgrounds, their mothers-in-law forcefully move in with the couple to perform the igbo-culture rite but instead of relieving their children of the burden of child care, their mothers rivalry complicates life for the couple to comical effects.
Cast; Patience Ozokwor, Ayo Adesanya, Omowunmi Dada, Christian Paul, Ken Erics, and Henry Alade.
